Ask TCCA a Question
What is EM 385-1-1 training, and who needs it?

EM 385-1-1 training introduces the safety and occupational health requirements established by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. It is especially relevant to contractors, safety professionals, supervisors, and personnel working on projects subject to USACE safety requirements.

Is EM 385-1-1 training the same as OSHA 30?

No. OSHA 30 provides occupational safety training through the OSHA Training Program, while EM 385-1-1 training focuses on the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Safety and Occupational Health Requirements Manual. Depending on the project or position, an employer may require knowledge or training in both.

Is EM 385-1-1 required for military or federal construction projects?

EM 385-1-1 requirements apply to many U.S. Army Corps of Engineers projects and certain federal contracts. However, specific training and qualification requirements vary by contract, position, and employer. Students should verify their project's requirements before enrolling.

Can I complete TCCA's 40-hour EM 385-1-1 course live on Zoom?

Yes. TCCA offers its 40-hour EM 385-1-1 training live through Zoom with instructor-led instruction. Students attend scheduled sessions, participate in the training, and must meet course completion requirements.

What certificate will I receive after completing EM 385-1-1 training?

Students who successfully complete TCCA's 40-hour EM 385-1-1 course receive a TCCA-issued certificate of completion documenting their training. This is not a government-issued certification and does not independently establish eligibility for a specific federal safety position.
